I run XAMPP apache in my localhost but there are times you might not be able to start the apache service. There was once I keep getting the message “Apache Starting….” but it just did not display the “running” status in your XAMPP control panel. Clicked on ”Stop” and you will see the message “Busy….”; “Apache Started [port 80]“ on the display screen of your control panel.

After some research, I found out that the Apache service which is using port 80 actually clashes with my Skype, which is using port 80 as well. An easy way out, of course is to start either Apache or Skype but not both at the same time. So how do we run both Skype and Apache at the same time?

Just go to your Skype, Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> Connection.

Uncheck “use port 80 and 443 as alternatives for incoming connections” . Restart your Skype and there you go. Both Skype and Apache is able to run at the same time.

Do you always get a prompt message in your outlook whereby it prompts you for login ID and password? The prompting doesn’t stop event after you clicked ok. So here’s what you gotta do :

1) Closed down Outlook 2007
2) Go to C:\users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Protect
3) Delete the “Protect” folder
4) Restart your pc
5) Restart Outlook 2007
6) Re enter all passwords (if you have more than one account)

Click on Send/Receive button

I’m using windows vista, and I hope it works for other OS as well
